Maura Byron is a longtime advocate for families of children with special needs and serves as Executive Director of the Family Support Network (FSN), where she leads efforts to provide resources, education and support to help families navigate complex health, education and community systems. With more than 20 years of experience, she has worked closely with families as a mentor, trainer and community leader, and has contributed to collaborative initiatives focused on improving outcomes for children with complex needs. Currently, Maura is serving as the Vice-Chair of the Cal Optima Health Board of Directors.
Earlier in her career, Byron taught in the Redlands Unified School District, where she was recognized as Teacher of the Year and GATE Teacher of the Year. She earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in education from the University of Redlands and holds additional certification in Multiple Intelligences Theory from the University of California, Riverside, as well as in Gifted and Talented Education (GATE). A mother of three, wife of nearly 40 years and grandmother of three, she is a passionate advocate for parents and caregivers of individuals with special needs and is widely recognized for elevating family voices in systems of care.
